    Break in period

Is there a standard benchmark mileage to hit before modding the engine, in particular "stage1, or 2"?
My plan is to buy brand new in a couple months and I'm eager to start modding right away, but I know it's not wise until the car is broken in.

I've never had a brand new car, or motor to break in before so I'm new to this. Thx!

The manufacturer-specified break in period is 1K miles. The do's/don'ts for the break-in period are outlined in the user manual.

There are a lot of threads on this topic already. Please search around and read through them, and then come back if you have specific questions beyond what is already out there.

    ^ This.

This topic usually ends in arguments. There are many schools of thought. My best advice is do what you feel is best and mention it to no one

Ah, well, I "searched" for it briefly and couldn't find it in the stickies I've read. Thx for the warm welcome and advice. I'll do a better search.

Don't feel bad, we're just trying to avoid the ban-fight these threads normally turn in to. Better for everyone that way. At any rate, welcome!

Would you say in the "schools" more bias to the safer side, after the 1st oil change is a good idea? Like I said, I'm new, though I understand their will be varying opinions on a forum.

I lean more towards following the manual. So yeah after 1000 miles of break-in you should be good to go.

I personally waited a few thousand miles before I went stage 1, just to make sure my motor wasn't going to pop. Wait at least 1000 miles to be safe.
