I want to buy another wrx/sti!!!!

Hey guys I'm in the market for another wrx/sti. I recently got a new job with more money of course and am looking to find one for around 15 thousand. I have one question I wanted some opinions on. My new job is close to home, exactly 3 miles away and I was wondering if driving this short distance frequently (in a turbo charged car in general) will put wear and tear on the turbo over time? I know turbo charged cars have come a long ways including oil too but I'm just paranoid whether or not to buy another turbo car! Anybody's opinion is much appreciated thanks!!!

I drive 9 miles each way. You'll be fine. I'd let your car at least warm up for 30-60 seconds on cold days just to make sure oil is circulating.

Yeah I'd definitely do so, along with letting it idle to cool down the turbo before cutting power.

    That isn't necessary.

    No.

Short distances are more demanding than distances that allow the car's fluids to fully come up to temp and allow the car to cruise at low load, low rpm (motorway). So, if it were my car, with a short commute, I'd follow the severe maintenance schedule rather than the regular schedule.

However letting the car idle to cool down the turbo is neither economical nor necessary. This is covered in the owner's manual.

Oil and water cooled turbos. Same reason we don't need a turbo timer in Subarus.

Why would you do that if you don't need one?

You'd be surprised about the amount of people that actually will blatantly ignore good advice and waste money on one...then come complaining when something is wrong with the turbo timer and wiring.
