My biggest gripe with the car beside the looks (although I haven't seen it in person) is they say the got rid of the unequal length headers for performance, but it's only got 3 more hp and a handful more torque. You can keep your 3 hp and I'll keep my Subie rumble.

Wonder whats it's going to sound like with an exhaust?

But with a half liter less displacement, no?

Me, I'd take the DIT, EL headers and twin scroll over the rumble, because it's good tech. The 2.0L (FA20DIT) has more peak power and torque than the EJ257, but the power is more broadly spread, as well. That twin scroll will offer quick spool, but you'll lose that advantage if you get rid of the ELs. Also, aren't the UELs one part of the issue of cracked ringlands? That's probably another good reason to have ELs.

Pretty sure all of your gripes are actually substantial upgrades on the part of Subaru.

..except maybe the auto trans, but it's supposed to be the best made yet out of any manufacturer. And the other option is the six speed, in the WRX, I can't seem to complain lol.

I've heard (through reading and soundbites of both cars) that the WRX has equal length exhaust headers, and the STI has unequal length. Is this true? Judging by the way both cars sound, the STI still has that trademark rumble, and the WRX just sounds like a really loud Civic now.

Sti still has the traditional ej motor and unequal length. The wrx has fa20 equal length headers. Impossible for it to sound like a Honda hence the boxer engine
A really loud civic sounds like a really loud weedwacker

Yes, the 2015 WRX got the new 2.0 liter engine from the BRZ, while the STi stuck with the aging 2.5. I somewhat agree that the WRX no longer has the trademark rumble and think that's a sad thing.
