Problem with windshield wiper handle v.13' wrx

Does "lifting" the windshield wiper handle suppose to do anything on the new wrx? Doing this is the standard behavior for majority of cars for the spraying of the windshield fluids, but since the wrx actually has a button to press on the tip of the handle for the fluid. What does "lifting" the handle suppose to do? Mine doesn't do anything, do I have something defective?

By lifting, do you mean pulling towards you or pushing it up towards the ceiling?

No, not at all. It should just give you one wipe from the blades each time you pull it towards you. No washer fluid.

A lot of people get confused by this. I actually thought they didn't fill my washer fluid at the dealership or something.

Same here. So I bought a gallon a couple days after buying the car. Then when I almost over-flowed the reservoir, I hopped back in and discovered the button.

That's strange, when I pull on mine, a missile fires at the car in front of me.
    Not so much anymore.

Yeah, it's confusing because it says "MIST". But what it's referring to is the wiper blades will wipe once per pull for misting conditions. The pushbutton on the end of the stalk is your wiper fluid for the front windshield.
