After I'm done driving and I shut the car off, I hear ticking from the engine, or would you say like popping or whatever it is. Some of my friends cars do it too. Is it normal or?

That's the car cooling down. Metal expands when it gets hot and the sound you hear is it contracting as it cools. It will happen to all of your friends' cars too.

Either that, or you should discontinue storing your popcorn maker under the hood.

Never happens in here in Phoenix. Maybe because it's always 100 plus especially in a garage.

It's funny you say this because I know it's very common and almost all of my family's cars have done this over the years, but my '06 Accord never did. Honda, you mythical beast.

^ no comment on that. I never had a Honda and never will, even if it's the last car on this earth...
Though I will admit they came a long way from humble beginnings - but a lot of that is marketing.

My Honda doesn't do it. My Subaru does though. Normal.

I used to have a honda that did not do it either but those cars have less of the exhaust heat sheilding metals so that probably why they do it less or not at all, but in the subaru its perfectly normal.

Nothing to worry about unless you are a member of some kind of organized crime. If that's the case then run away. Run away as fast as you possibly can.
