Over the last three years 100% of highway patrol I have encountered in TX have been shooting Ka band, which I pick up over a mile away.. and I don't get false positives for Ka. In that same amount of time I've been hit with laser less than a dozen times, and at least half the time I can visually spot them parked shooting LIDAR about 15 seconds before they hit me.. plenty of time to reel it in.

Possibly, but the last encounter with lidar a couple weeks ago the car behind me was pulled over so maybe it worked or maybe I just got lucky.

Even if I am not exceeding the speed limit, I enjoy being that much more aware of my surroundings while using the radar detector.

Exact reason I use cruise more than my foot. Anything over 25 mph I use cruise as much as I can.

I've got a beltronics. Have had it for a few year now. Obviously, it is useless against lidar (laser), but it is highly effective against Ka and K band.

Furthermore, in regards to sensitivity, I've learned which readings are false positives due to the stationary sensors on automatic doors at stores and such and which readings are truly from a Kojak with a Kodak.
Kartboy STS, related shifter/linkage bushings, Whiteline subframe bushing inserts, Whiteline rear differential bushing inserts, Whiteline steering rack bushings, Grimmspeed MCB, Group N tranny mount, TiC tranny cross member bushings, gimmick turbro inlet pipe, Ingen intake, PW-clone TMIC, Turbrosmart BPV, Megan catless DP, Tsudo N1 exhaust... Instant-on / POP radar can still get picked up by a detector, giving you proper time to slow down (assuming there's some traffic on the road), but it's less effective than the "always on" style they use here.

I run a Escort Passport 8500 x50 with a Zr4 laser shifter and I'm also always super alert looking for the fuzz. Before I had the shifter though all I used to get were tickets from getting hit on laser, only had a few radar detector tickets, and I've had 38 of those. Once I installed the shifter I haven't had a problem since. I also drive about 36k miles a year so my chances of getting popped are a lot higher than the average person.
