This is a discussion on What happens when gas goes above .30 within the Everyday Impreza Talk forums, part of the Community - Meet other Enthusiasts category; as the title says, what happens when gas goes above .30 and i'm in no particular hurry to get anywhere ...
Wow!!30mpg you must not drive over 25 mph.
Hmmmm.. I presume your commute is downhill in both directions?
My commute is like 38 miles highway, 7 miles backroads each way. But yeah a lot of 2k shifts and 65 mph on the highway with relatively little traffic gave me that. But is sitting at like 29.4 now with 210 on the trip at half a tank. Its painful to drive like this, I just wanted to see whats the best I could get for a whole tank
Car is completely stock, I had to put on my granny panties to pull this one off
Damn that's pretty impressive. I don't see better than about 17 mpg in my STI...I don't drive conservatively at all though...

worst ive gotten was 19mpg when i first got my bugeye. ive been able to get ~25mpg almost every tank in the bug, on the way home from VA got 29mpg on that tank. im actually perfectly content with my gas mileage, always want better but its better than my 15mpg on a good day jeeps lol
I tried driving around shifting at 2k for a bit when I first got the car. Then I bumped it up to more like 2500/2700 and didn't notice much of a difference in mileage. Throttle probably makes a big difference. I did feel like I was more often close to bogging the engine when shifting at 2k though, probably puts it in high load situations a lot more.

I still do not believe those trip computers. I trust the "take the mileage and divide by gallons" method.

The trip computer will show those numbers, usually just after a reset & very ,I mean really conservative driving. Try resetting & using cruise control with speed set to 40-50mph. It will show numbers above 25mpg. But if I wanted to drive like that I bought the wrong car.

Ooh,hang on. That is the throb of a turbocharged flat four engine. A sound which, all over the world, heralds the imminent arrival of a moron - JC.
yes 30 is the highest the MPG thing goes. ive gotten 30.0 mpg before right after i filled up on gas, reset my trip, and drove a freeway all the way to my house. i got 30.0 mpg for a semi short time. but it went down and only down
yeah i'm filling up on the way home so i'll tell you what it actually is. and i know, it was painful to drive my car like that. I just wanted to see how high i could get it.
