I've heard that too. Though it was more that if you have your hand at dbag position you'll punch yourself in the face when the airbag goes off. Sounds reasonable, but I'm pretty sure I'd be at full racecar if I was in a situation where the airbag was going to go off.

I live my life one quarter mile at a time, so usually 9/10ish and 3/4ish so I can get that right hand down quickly to double clutch like I should be instead of granny shifting.

Speaking of which, anyone ever see people pulling this move?

I see people using that position to make turns all the time, and it drives me nuts. That's definitely not taught in any driving school and just seems dumb. I tried it once to see why it seems to be so popular and it felt very awkward.

As far as my driving, my left hand is usually at 9-10 sometimes 11-12 and right hand resting near the shifter during cruising. Hands at 9 & 3 for the fun stuff.

I drive 10 and 2 normally. During evasive driving or spirited driving 9 and 3.

I'm at RC most of the time. Left-handed RC when cruising and there's no traffic around. Never anything else.

Yeah, I've seen plenty of people do this and I have no idea what they're thinking.

I'm a truck driver so my hands spend 10 hours a day or so in left mom position, works good with the arm rest. I mean the truck wheel is angled way different than a car. In a normal car I'm usually left hand racer or farmer, occasionally mom on long drives.

I use all of those, at completely random times. It is always about comfort for me, though I find myself using racecar a lot.

So I'm suddenly all too aware of where I put my hands on the wheel, and being aware of it has probably affected my choices.

That being said, I tend to
    - RC 3/9 (closer to 4/8) on the highway
    - Douche when I'm waiting at a light or getting impatient or both.
-> Waiting to turn = Douche right hand 11 o'clock (odd, I know.)

    Sometimes right-mom & left-douche or -Racecar
    or,
    Right-racecar,
    or,
Often Left 9 o'clock wit my elbow on the door

I was going to suggest that left arm out the window was the second douche position. Glad I didn't now ;o)

*shudder* gods that looks like somebodys arm about to be broken. airbag, pothole, wreck, curb bump a good shift on the wheel from the car and snap! dun do eet man! i am almost always late for anything so little fingers just above the racecar rests unless no traffic highway cruise. then the right sits on the shifter next to the coffee.
when my friends come up, i hear, "you sold the camarrrroooh.....HOLY BLEEP A WRX!"
Ya has that effect on me too.

No!!!! I'm a d-bag?! It's the only comfortable position for me, or randomly going to left farmer with elbow on window sill. Right hand on my leg, unless I'm doing something spirited.
