It was meant to be sarcastic because I didn't feel like typing out that there's no need for a radar detector if you don't break the law. Simple logic, if you want to drive like that and break the law, then accept the risk of getting a ticket to do so. If you don't want to do that, abide by the laws. If you want to have fun with your car, there are plenty of affordable outlets to do so.

Well when I say hide, what I mean is they are right on the other side of corners with the guns. When you come around a corner they are there, and zap, you are F'd. They typically will have the guy with the radar/laser gun a quarter mile or so up the road, with a radio, and then he will alert the five or so cops waiting right down the road to pull you over. Sucks. I got nabbed in this sneaky set up a few years back. Luckily, if you are familiar with the interstates up here, it is very predictable where they will be. A lot of times they will get you for going even only 5 MPH over the limit (especially around montly quota time). Like I said...Tight budgets!

Oh yeah, and they also do this from air planes as well.

We also have murdered out mustang GT's as undercover state police as well!

The planes aren't using electronic speed detection devices. They use the white lines on the road to time cars over a specific distance. If your time is under a certain threshold, you must be speeding. The plane or helicopter then calls to a unit on the ground who makes the stop.

Also, check this car out. Not too stealthy with the light-bar/decals, but it's listed as a "street racing prevention unit."

I don't speed excessively as a rule, but why open yourself up to a needless ticket? Drive responsibly, but use an electronic co-pilot.

I have a lowered STI, giant wing, roof rack, loud catless exhaust...and I've been pulled over once in owning it for 3 years now. That one time was last week cause I had a license plate in the window, which is breaking the law in NJ. I had just got it due to recently registering in NJ, and didn't have the hardware to mount it. The cop was a nice guy and let me off without even a warning.

Don't break the law, and you won't get pulled over. Simple as that.

I have a Valentine 1. Under normal circumstances, it's useless to me other than to notify me a LEO is operating radar; I don't even let off the gas. Where it does come in handy is on road tunes, where you're having to drive abnormally.

    +me.
In the last 20 years, I've received one speeding ticket, if memory serves. The fee to take the driving school and escape points was probably less than the cost of a quality detector. I'll probably get one soon, due to my saying this.

    Get a PRIUS...

Really, I learned to just not be the fastest on the road. Always have someone going faster than you, worked for me for the last 10 years. It's not that I wouldn't speed at all, but I try to keep it in limits and as said above, not to be the fasterestest.
You can't have everything - where would you put it?

In no way do I endorse reckless driving behavior. But...if you are speeding and a Prius is speeding at the same place and same time, who do you think will be pulled over? If you drive a high profile car, it is in your best interest to have an equalizer. As was mentioned earlier, if you get zapped with laser, you are done. Only by catching reflections from cars ahead being targeted by laser can you hope to be forewarned.

i find this entertaining because it is against the law to even advertise that you have a radar jammer for sale, regardless if it actually works. the FCC will eventually catch up with that site.

the good news is that, for laser jamming, it's altering/hindering a beam of light, which is not currently against any law. if it was, none of us could legally wear sunglasses.

i use the escort passport 8500 x50 and it works wonderfully...

No they won't. The RMR has literally no jamming capability, and has been tested multiple times to prove that. Plus, they state that it is only "jamming" LIDAR (laser), not radar, which is legal.

Radar Roy has tested the RMR before, here are his results:

This. I drove an identical year model sedan for a few years, and it got a lot more looks than my current wagon. No one gives respect, really...a lady that my kids carpool with told me that her Honda Odyssey is much faster than my little station wagon.
