Busy with work? Busy with family? Busy with both?

It makes the days go by fast. I can't believe I've been at my work almost 7 years!

Everything really. I started a business on the side some time ago which has become so busy I'm about to leave my 16 year day job to work for myself. Right now I'm working 16-17 hours a day 6 days a week for quite some time now. Balancing that while keeping my wife and kid in my life has been very difficult to say the least. I've actually become accustomed to 3-4 hours a night sleep.

Damn. That's a **** ton of hours! No wonder you said "Friggen busy! Running around like a maniac as usual." Now I know why.

That's good you will be your own boss but I'm sure you still will be busy just doing that. At least maybe it will give you a little (maybe?) break to spend time with the wife/kid.

3-4 hours of sleep/night is barely anything. Yikes. I typically get around 5-6 which isn't much more but I'm not working crazy hours like you.

Well keep your head up and good luck with your business. It's good that your business is doing good. Rather it be doing very well then not doing any business.

TR is my hero...going into business for himself. Let me know when you make that break!

I'll pass 23 years at my employer in May. Jeez.

I will say, it's been hard to make the break. I'm now making more than enough to easily break, but it's very hard to leave the comfort of paid healthcare. Apparantly a few weeks ago they caught wind of my impending departure and have taken amazing steps to ease my tensions here. It was much easier to leave when things were so uncomfortable every day.

I can see that. People take good employees for granted until they think about life without them.
Yeah, the healthcare thing is reason #1 for my still working for "the man".

Yup. The $1400 a month family plan is a bit prohibitive.

Yeah its a crime what they charge for health care. My total family plan (employers contribution+mine) is ~$1600 a month. Luckily my employer absorbs the lions share.
