Very true! Or if you happen to live in the vicinity of a salt flat... Those top speed runs are fun, but nothing compares to going around corners or dragging a knee.

I really want to get out to the flats some day, good point. Agreed on cornering, if I wanted something fast in a straight line I would have bought American...

Limiter aside, it would take a pretty long stretch to get it up to 155mph. I think the highest I hit on the track was around 135 and the car was starting to slow down.. Granted that was only a 1/4 mile straight and I had to make it around an uphill hairpin at the end =/
For a car that is pretty fast... I know that my STI would need a fair bit of room to top out on the limiter, if it could. Like I said, on my CBR I can hit 170 down the back straight of Mid Ohio and I have friends that regularly hit 180. Turn 7 at the end of the straight is pretty scary when braking from those kinds of speeds. Click image for larger version.

If I were tracking my car I would definitely upgrade the brakes. It's amazing how much difference Super Blue fluid, braided lines, good rotors and pads made on the bike, I'm sure the car would benefit as well. If you want to go fast, being able to stop is just as important!

    Someone: Please try...
I don't think the Subie will get to top speed in one mile, so someone else please try...
You can't have everything - where would you put it?

That would be downright scary in an Impreza....

Definitely agree with that! That thing must have massive HP to push one of these that fast. These cars are not the most aerodynamic.

Meh, it's not drag that's the problem (Bugeyes have a Cd of 0.32, which is similar to many super cars), but the actual dynamics behind the aero... A Ferrari Enzo may have a Cd of 0.34, but much of that drag is re-purposed into downforce. Not the case on an Impreza!

Running the mile in a stock Subaru would be kinda pointless (aside from answering people's curiosity).

Will's car made 601whp @32psi.. his 201mph run at the mile was with 28psi, so probably 560-570whp I would guess? And I think slowing down is the scary part..

That is true, but a lot of those super cars have adjustable spoilers so they can tune the downforce for top speed runs. Our cars are just bricks on wheels.

Edit: The new Subies aren't bad at all. The 2013 has CD 0.31 for the sedan and 0.33 for the hatch. I wouldn't have guessed that, they really don't look that slick.

Very cool, thanks for sharing. Curious as to what transmission/gearing he's running. That wiggle while slowing down would have required some new pants.
