Hatchback! To me the tail lights on the hatchback looks more interesting but only with the overlays, I do not know what the hell they were thinking with the clear tails in the hatchback. You can also differentiate a subie hatch from their unique tail lights at night.

I prefer the back end look of the Sedan. It looks more mature

I have an 03 sedan, which I do prefer to the 03 wagons.

I like the rear end of the hatch much better on the newer models. From 08 and up Id rather a hatch than a sedan.

I prefer the sedan, I had a hatch back in the day '02 Civic Ep3 Si and while it was convienent during my single days I too feel a sedan is just a more mature car to own for a 35 year old male. Also the trunk is huge, people make the argument the hatch has more room but I don't see it as the back glass is sloped. Plus if I ever have to haul anything more than golf clubs, and light camping gear I will take the wife's '11 Outback or my truck.

I would have still been happy with the car if Subaru never offered the sedan and only the hatch, but given they gave us a choice, that's what I got. Perhaps my ears are slightly off or have something wrong with them, but out of about 6-7 different WRX hatch/ sedans I test drove over a two year period, some with SPT exhuast some with stock, the dual can muffler setup on the sedan just sounded slightly deeper and more throaty. Even my wife commented on that at the dealer without me saying anything about it.

I just wish Subaru would have given us sedan guys led tails like the hatch got. Color also makes a difference for me. While I like the WRX sedan in White, Silver, Red, I like the Hatch in WRB, Black, Plasma Blue don't know why but I just do.

I've just never been a hatch fan (although I have considered buying a GTI a few times in the past) and I have always had pickup trucks and/or SUVs along with my cars so I've never needed the extra space/utility that a hatchback offers. If I had to buy a car that would be my only vehicle though, I'd likely buy a hatchback.

I love all hatches and wagons... doesnt matter who makes em. I can surf the non american markets for days looking at all the tasty hatches and wagons they get to buy.

Sedans (convertibles withstanding) just look unfinished to me. Like they forgot there was this area above the rear bumper to the roof line.
Not as many parts left over this time... what am I missing?

to me hatches look like the car's wearing a diaper and there's something about the lights that just don't do it for me. just my opinion. hatches aren't as long though which seems nice

I like them both, just for different reasons. If it were just me, and space were not an issue....the sedan would have my vote. If only by a small margin.

Space is an issue, and though I've not been big on hatchbacks in the past.....I think Subaru did right by this one. The 5-door is the best fit for my lifestyle, and I don't really miss my S2000 that much after driving this for a while now.
