I get a little over 16 mpg in my 06 sti with over 400whp
I'm lucky that I don't have to drive many miles to work, etc. I don't check my mpg. I tend to have a lead foot. I have fun when I drive. If I had to drive much to the point that mpg was an issue, I most likely would have bought a more economical car. Face it, this car gets V8 type mpg.
Shhhhh everyone in this thread is in denial.

Couple of numbers to throw in with my stock 2013 WRX. I made a 268 mile trip from Tacoma to Portland and averaged 25.6 of all highway driving, actually ended my break in period on this trip. Maybe half of the miles done at around 70 mph and the other half at 60. A few stretches here and there where I slowed down to 55 and shot up to 80, so that had an effect on my numbers
Also, I just recently filled my car up and have spent five days just driving to and from work, which has a few areas where it's stop and go but is mostly smooth sailing because I work nights. I've been at 18.0 mpg according to the meter for these 85 miles, with only about 5 miles of highway driving.

After a full tank of gas I averaged 18.3 mpg! Not bad!
Update: after hurricane sandy made gasoline scarce on Long Island, and a confused 80 year old man drove around a stopped car into my wifes car at a traffic signal that was out.. I was forced to change my driving habits since I would be picking up most of the driving while my wifes car sat at the body shop (with a full tank of gas) I managed to pull off 19.8 without adding much more highway miles. So it is confirmed, it is my right foot that is the problem!
Oh well.. Driving like that was boring.
Ok, ALMOST everybody here. I think you actually average better than my mom in her Camry =P

Nah..at least in the older models, there have always been forum folks getting into the mid-20's with no problem. I simply don't blast from one stoplight to the next.
