Most I've waited since I moved out of California is 20 minutes, in either Colorado or now in Texas. In California I used to pack a lunch and bring a book.

Those people are the honey badgers of customer service.

I think the longest I've waited in any DMV (NY, FL, VA) was no more than a hour n half. Ever.

If it takes longer than that.. there's something direly wrong.

    Re: DMV and You

That's great. If I wanted to get through fast, I'd gave to come about an hour and a half early and wait outside.

DC DMVs are a nightmare. Absolute nightmare. I waited 4 hours to get a license, then another 2 1/2 to contest some invalid parking tkts.

You stand in line just to get to a room where you can sit. Then you get called to stand in another line where you might actually get some service.

The lady next to me had her last name spelled wrong on her first license, they printed another one, birth date was wrong - all hell was about break loose and I booked it for the door.

    Nightmare.
