    The wave

I took my new WRX hatch on 750 mile road trip this weekend. On the start of the return home I stopped at a light at a divided highway intersection and saw a beautiful silver, STI facing me on the other side of the road about to make a left turn. I was explaining to my friend what a great car it was and how how it differed from mine. When the light changed, as the STI made his turn in front of me, the driver put his hand nearly to his head, almost like a salute and gave me a wave. Now that doesn't happen every day. Its quite a club we belong to. Made me feel good to own a WRX.

It happens occasionally. Less nowadays than in the past. I think partly this has to do with the fact that many GR owners don't even identify a bugeye as a WRX.

    Regardless, welcome.

It's because no Bugeye ever had competition Monster decals plastered down the side.

Therefore not recognizable by most GR owners.

No they're punk ass kids because they're punk ass kids. They're pretty easy to spot.

I find that earlier year owners DONT WAVE at 3G cars. Apparently I only own a hatch corolla or some other model centric load of crap.

So that bull**** goes both ways. Besides, at this point I see more "punk ass kids" and Hipster wanna be's driving bugeye's n blobeyes because they've gotten cheap enough for the masses of uneducated ricer punks to pick up. The bugeye is the new civic... Yeah turns my stomach too but its true.

buncha ****in *******s all of em.. damned subaru owners and their waving.

I drive a 3rd gen and i wave. Heck i go out of my way to wave. Like turning on my map lights at night so they can see through my tint. Only gotten 1 wave back from a fellow 3rd gen. White hatch like mine only a wrx bone stock. Older fella behind the wheel. I get a peace sign from the younger crowd.

I said this before, and I'll say it again. I think most GR owners are first-time Subaru owners, and are therefore not aware of "the wave". Owners of older WRXs in general seem to have had them awhile, and know "the wave".

Even Subaru's own promotional brochures mention the wave. I can't seem to find it, but I have one about Subarus in general (the whole Subaru "Love" thing), and it had a whole section on the "wave".

So to sum up, older guys don't wave at new guys, new guys don't wave at old guys, everybody is wrong, and everybody is right?

I used to wave at everyone.. now I only wave at my friends. Why give attention to people that dont reciprocate?

When I had my Cherokee lifted it didn't matter what jeep I waved at.. always got a wave back. Seems subaru folks of late have a large piece of attitude jammed squarely into their 4-point of contact.
