    Fake Sti's ???

    Time to vent.

What is up with all the regular WRXs I am seeing lately with STi badging and STi spoilers?! I can see the spoiler but putting STi badging on a car other than an STi seems wrong on sooooo many levels. One of the biggest reasons, is because people who beat that fake STi in a race will think they beat and STi, when really they just beat a WRX (not to hate on the WRX). This will breed more Subaru haters who say "that STi blows my Civic dusted it" which is something I DON"T want to hear EVER!

I saw this half decent looking 2004 "STi" for sale for only $12,000 which, in its' condition, is a suspiciously low price... So upon further inspection I noticed, it doesn't have the Brembo brakes, it only has, get this, Brembo brake covers lol -_- It did however have the 2.5L which makes me wonder, is it an STi with ****ty junk yard breaks on it? or is it a WRX with an engine swap, interior swap, etc swap?

I'm looking to buy a Subaru, I want it to be an STi so this is just a car I've stumbled upon and was scared that it was just another STi wanna be lol

To each their own. Maybe they've swapped in the transmission and motor to make it equivalent.

Agreed ^^ wait to find a nice clean one. I was able to pick up an 02 with a whopping 70k miles, un-abused and stock!

learn how to interpret the VIN. For 2004 (and other years - take a look at cars101 for more details), you're looking for it to start with JF1GD7. GD2 means wrx engine, GD6 means 2.5l N/A.

STi stands for "Subaru Technica International" it's Subaru's in house tuning company NOT the model of a car. The WRX STi was classically the WRX tuned by STi similar to Mercedes AMG. I have a number of STi parts on my car, does that make me a poser?

You know what be MORE embarrassing to Subaru besides getting "beat" in a streetrace? Streetracing in a Subaru.

First things first. I'd love to see a civic dust my wrx

For that matter. I've walked away from two STIs. One was a little older and looked to be running state 2 and the second was newer but sounded stock. Either way. My wrx runs good

Better be careful, I know of a few people with Civic's that trap 125-130mph in the 1/4 mile and daily drive them. I actually have a video of one destroying an STi with a Dom3.0 turbo.

Worrying about "what others do to their car", or, for that matter, "what Civic owners brag about" = waste of my time. Buy a car that puts a smile on your face. Let others go jump off a cliff.
