Who has a lift in their garage? I want one...and need feedback

So I am procrastinating on my clutch replacement because I don't really have a ton of time to do it myself right now, but keep cringing at the thought of paying the dealer or the local Independent an extra $900 in labor/parts to do it.

So that sent my mind wandering to the thought of a lift.

At first I bargained with my dad about going in half-sies and installing it in his 40x60 shop (like he said he would since he built the damn thing in 2004), but alas I think he is getting to the point in life where he'd rather just pay to have someone else do it all, and I understand.

So then I thought, well why don't I buy it and put it in his shop? Well then if he sells in the next 5 years (like he has been threatening) what do I do with it, cause the 2 post we were eyeing wont fit in my garage...

I've used professionally almost every type of lift, from the Heavy duty 2 post (my personal fav), to the medium-lighter duty 4 post, to an alignment rack, to a scissor ramp lift, to a full under body scissor lift for wheel/tire changesand finally Ari-hetra style wheel lifts for 60,000lb + gvw equipment.

So I finally got some internet time to troll around and stumbled on this bendpak p6 open center lift.

BendPak P-6B, Open Center Low Rise Lift, 6,000 Lb. Capacity

It looks perfect for my third car bay, and seems to fit the potential budget at around $1800-$1900 delivered.

I like it because it is unobtrusive, the pad lift is pretty safe, I can use it for motorcycles and park over it.

But does anyone know if you can get a transmission out with it?

The published "pit width" is 32"-38" which is def wider than the WRX tranny.

I need some clubwrx opinions and feedback.

I have never used one of these.. That being said when I did my shop I had to let them know BEFORE concrete was poured where and how much weight would be used on it. Id be careful about the potential of the lift cracking the concrete where the lift sits when all the weight is in the air. Just my .02 I know you cant typically put a lift in a standard garage with the concrete as it could take a big fall.

Yeah my concrete in the garage is 5" thick, not post tensioned, so I should be just fine. Most I'll end up lifting with it will be around 4500 lbs simply because my garage door isn't tall enough to fit most new trucks.

I have a lift, I like it but find I would rather work on the ground cause its how I grew up. Weird I know. I love it for changing oil though. Hanging exhaust it helps. Depends on the job really.

If I had the space and option to get a lift. I would. No questions asked.

You don't need much room for a lift. It all depends on how high you want to get the car. They also have outdoor lifts as an option which I'll probably end up getting.

That's an interesting idea. I'd definitely consider that if I was in a climate that was nicer all year round. I'm surprised you work outside on your cars with the heat down there.
