I could always just serve as a human filter by responding to their intro threads and boring them to tears by droning on and on about authentic parts, in modified cars, disliking tuners and so on...

I've not seen a modded Subaru in the wild in weeks. Could be fashions ate changing or just coincidence. Movies make a huge difference though!

I actually saw the damn thing 2 weeks ago.
Not AS totally fake as F&F.
Everyone's prediction are pretty close.
There is 1 decent chase scene.
But the rest of the movie is a drag race competition(1 sponsor is ESX motorsports, fastest drag subie company)
Seriously a highly modified STI in a drag race.
1 more thing, POWER SHIFTING!

It's unrealistic to expect movies like this to stop..people think this kind of thing is awesome until they actually see the human aftermath of a high speed accident.
