    I was planning to do this all myself, which would save on the install costs but I just don't have time right now.

    I'm waiting on a quote from my shop to do the ej257 swap keeping the stock ECU and intake manifold. I never asked them about the AVCS though. I'm pretty much over the ej207 - it just seems like too much of a pain in the arse.

    I know a few Subies that have plugged AVCS oil lines (they can be forced to stay in the fully closed position). The AVCS is a nice feature, but not at the expense of $$/blood/sweat/tears of swapping ECUs and harness or wiring a stand-alone EMS.
