This is a discussion on What kind of milage are you actually getting on your 2011 WRX? within the Everyday Impreza Talk forums, part of the Community - Meet other Enthusiasts category; Im about 16-18mpg...
Im about 16-18mpg
Lead Wrench @ WTF Tuning, LLC
I was 16-18, but then started watching rpm, and if I go below 3k it gets much better.
2011 wrx. 14k on it. When Im just cruising around town, usually 20-22mpg. I deliver pizzas occasionally, and when i decide to go have fun, around 16-18mpg.
However I took a ski trip up north, about a 3 and a half hour drive, and from filling up right as I was getting out of town, to arriving at the mountain, my mpg started at 27 and kept going up. and I held around 31-32mpg.
Laterdays...

Between 26-29 on the highway (usually cruise right at 70), 15-17 in town because I always keep it in the boost.
I normally average 16-20, depending on how much I am able to get highway miles..... though this is in Pittsburgh where there are almost no flat places to drive (always going up or down hill), about 95% city driving, lots of in-boost and lots of wight in the car (me).

sorry if its been said before. anyone with aftermarket fuel injectors will read higher since the ECU and gauge uses pulse width i believe to give you your number. bigger injectors need scaled back so the gauge is worthless now. as for my 09 i averaged about 24mpg (highway 26mpg), my 11 before major overhall was 22-23mpg. i still need to figure out what im getting though right now. when i did my injectors i had my evap system removed so my gauges was only reading about 31-32mpg. now that i put part of the evap system back in im up to 36mpg. still need a full tank to calculate the real number but gaining back 4-5mpg makes me happy.
had my 2011 since last feburary and he is pretty much on par. Trips where the CC is set, I see over 22 mpg, driving speed up and down on freeway, 18-20 mpg, having fun and getting on it, 14-16 mpg. It seems very effected by how you drive tbh, I've seen as low as 8 mpg while really giving her heck and as high 33mpg when on a long trip where I never had to touch the gas.
my average mpg is 24, thats highway a some city driving as well. if i do more city driving then its usually around 22-23. Current record is 36.6![]()

Sorry to jack the thread, but I did an experiment on my 02' 2.0L WRX, Mods are
Perrin Up pipe, cold air intake, Cobb TBE w/ high flow cat, Tein H-Springs and Access Port Stage 2. Everything else including the turbo and are stock. 0-37mph in 1st, and 65-69mph in 2nd. Never been dyno'd but she still gits up and goes and is always a fun car to drive. Supposedly running 295hp at the crank. Basically 9:1
When I'm not wot:
50mph in 5th gear - 37.5 mpg with cruise on.
60mph in 5th gear - 30.5 mpg with cruise on.
75mph+ on the interstate and favorable mph dimishishes to 23mpg.
Although I live in Coastal Georgia and the roads are relatively flat.
That's why I love my Subie!!!

Drove my 2011 Rex from Denver to Seattle over the holidays and averaged 22. Wish it had a 6th gear for the 85-90 mph stretches in Wyoming to help conserve the beast and mileage.
2011 WRX, 6100 miles...If I reset my trip, and I'm not doing my 4 mile commute (that I should be riding my bike for), I get about 23-25 on the hwy...and I avg about 18+ city...No mods, occasionally stompin' on it to get past the pack (occasionally +?)...
2011 WRX stock. Texas gulf coast. City 21-22. Highway @ 65 mph 29. Highway @ 70 mph 26. Only 2 road trips to measure. 5.5 Kmiles so far.
'11 WRX, almost a 1000mi trip (to Sno*Drift and back), various speeds and surfaces, average 22.5
It wouldn't have helped. The 6mt ends up with the same final drive, its just sticking another gear in the middle to keep the ratios closer.
I still get a laugh out of that notion, but its an easy one to fall into. Another funny thing about our own cars, tuning will not only yield you better power but also better fuel mileage. Now that's some neat ****!![]()
