I love my hatch.. how many other cars can you rip a sub 14 sec 1/4mi, sub 5 sec 0-60 AND bring home a 42" tv... or entertainment center... or gas grill....

not all three at once, but each Item there I brought home in my scoobie with space to spare. Not much on the ent. center.. but it was assembled. I need to haul computer/network equipment sometimes for work so I need the extra utility of a hatch. I guess for most hatch owners its more a utilitarian need.. but for me its that + I just love the way it looks like a black bullet.

This monster needs his space.. lol

Modifying the suspension on the wagon to exceed stock sedan performance was easy. I originally replaced the 17mm rear sway with the 19 from a sedan (or was it 15/17, I forget. I sold the wagon one to a 2.5RS friend, because the wagon was slightly larger.) Then I put in an aftermarket 21mm, I think, and with the input of several autocrossing friends, went with the Progress 22mm adjustable rear sway bar. Now with the right mix of tire pressure, it can be safe and sporty, or I can pump the rears up a bit and have the rear end come around whenever I want. Perfect balance.

I also swapped in a set of wagon specific Prodrive WRX (blue) springs, which lowered it a bit and improved roll. No messing around with aftermarket struts that way. 225s fit fine on the stock wheels, even while autocrossing. Never any rub.

Rear tower bar (no need for a front one, as it is right next to the reinforced firewall.)

I now have a bicycle wheel style quick release on these, and it is easy to remove. I had a 50" plasma TV in there with the liftgate closed. 30 bags of mulch another time.

Gratuitous re-re-re-re-re-re-posting, but you need to see a lowered, shaved wagon to appreciate it.

I like wagons so much (I've had Ford and FIAT wagons, as well as a few hatchies in the past) that I have two black Subie wagons.

The first year, something like 40% of all WRXs sold were wagons, and I've never had any trouble finding any parts, nor heard of others having problems.

Specs on what all I've done to mine are at the link in my sig.

    Get the wagon!

I wish Subaru still made the "traditional" looking wagons from the early 2000 - if they did I would have bought one.

Here are some very sexy looking wagons.

    Another one.

    nice blue.

    wrx sedan vs wrx wagon

I am either debating on getting a 2003 wrx sedan/wagon or a 2006 wrx sedan/wagon. the car will be automatic, first q, the handeling characteristics of the sedan vs teh wagon how differnt are they?
i am assuming teh wagon is longer, if so by how much? if the handeling of the wagonis so much worse than that of teh sedan what can be done to make it handle a lot better?
    which year? 2003 or 2006?
i like the bugeye look alot but a 2003 is getting a bit old now, i have heard that the auto trans in teh 2006 is more beefed up compaired to teh 2003 auto trans, is this true?

The sedan and wagon length's are the same, but the front bumper is longer on the 2006's.
    Overall length
    2003 - 173.4 in
    2006 - 175.8 in

The sedan is wider at the fenders, but the interior width is the same.
    Exterior Width.
    Sedan 2003 - 68.1 in
    Sedan 2006 - 68.5 in
    Wagon 03/06 - 66.7 in

The sedan handles better from the factory due to it having a larger (20mm) rear sway bar, vs the wagon's 17mm rear sway bar. Installing a sway bar is VERY easy, and not very expensive.
    The sedan is slightly lighter.
However, the wagon has better balance due to the extra weight over the rear tires.

The transmissions are essentially the same.
2002-2005 had the automatic as an option.
2006-2007 had the automatic as an option only in conjunction with the limited package (sunroof, leather).

You won't be able to run as wide wheels and tires with the wagon though, since the fenders aren't as wide. Also, the weight difference overall between the sedan and wagon isn't enough to really create a major weight imbalance (only about 50 - 60 lbs)...put a full tank of gas, passenger or some cargo in your sedan and that weight difference is all but negated.
