I'm back baby
2005 WRB STI...
Completely stock, and always has been. Immaculate condition. One owner, an older gentlemen who bought it at Fred Beans Subaru (where Tristan, the former King of Parts used to work)...and traded it in a couple weeks ago for a brand new 2010 STI. Carfax confirmed, that every single little bit of service, including oil changes promptly every 3000 miles, was done at Beans as well. Some people may flame for this; the car has 75k on the clock...however given the fully documented history as well as it being dealer Certified Used, I think it was a wise pick up. I gave it a thorough test drive and it felt solid. Believe it or not, it felt more solid than my 2007 STI did...the engine purrs nicely and the power comes on just as I remember. The clutch is perfect and transmission shifts nice and crisp, just as the STI 6 speed should.
Only thing that was upgraded was the sound system. Professionally installed Alpine headunit with full Ipod integration. Door speakers were replaced with JL Audio components, pushed by a JL amp. Two JL Audio 10w1 subs add some nice bass from the trunk, also pushed by a JL amp. System looks nice and clean and sounds GREAT. This was an added bonus as I was planning on doing an upgrade like this when I got a new one.
Also included...a set of winter wheels and tires! ASA rims with Dunlop Wintersport M3s, looks barely used! That is a huge plus!
One last little plus, it has a factory installed SPT short shifter...nice
Overall, I am really happy with this pick up. I've had a **** eating grin on my face all weekend. I'm glad to be back in the Subaru community. I took a hit on my Z to get this...but I'm not upset at that. The value of 350z's have been going down faster than the Titanic. A year ago when I bought my Z it was worth about $16,000 in the books. The value now a year later, nobody would give me more than $10k for it. Fred Beans gave me about $11k. Considering the balding tires and the effing accident I got in from the dumb teeniebopper who rear ended me really knocked the resale value down even further. I'm glad to be out from under the Z and its crappy value. It was an awesome and fun car...reliable for me over the last year and certainly turned some heads...ladies loved it...but my heart belongs in a Subaru.
Oh yeah...the other best thing about this purchase...my insurance. For some god-unknown reason...and nobody in the dealership could believe it...my insurance went down another $30 per month. I am now paying ONLY a cool $97 a month for an STI!!!! Yay!
Do I have any plans for it? I dunno. It does have 75k on the clock...maybe upping to Stage 2 or so wouldn't be smart (though I have seen plenty of people do it)...I dunno. I like that it is stock and for now I'm happy with that. I would like to do something for a little more rumble...perhaps a Catback or an Axleback...I don't want it to be near as loud as my Helix was on my 07 though, but shooting flames again would be nice I do want to add a Boost Gauge...I feel its just a necessary piece of info to know with a turbo car. We'll see. Pockets are a bit tight for the next couple weeks.
So...enough babble...here's some alright Blackberry Storm pics. I'm gonna try and get a good shoot sometime this week or weekend with a good camera.
