still goin

so i'm at about 149,000.. some issues along the way
I have a 2004 WRX that i bought new in Oct 2003 during a lunar eclipse. in '05 i hooked up a U-haul and pulled home my late father's '60 Harley w/about 1000lbs of tools about 400 miles..... with the AC on in JULY!.. you couldn't even tell I was haul'n close to the limit of 2000lbs!.. in '06 I bent the #1 connecting rod having sucked water up into the cold air intake.. which is the only mod I made over the years. Subaru dealership totally screwed up the engine rebuild and left me stranded at 15below zero at Killington VT with gas leaking out onto the engine.. so after about $6000 of insurance money and $3000 out of pocket at a better mechanic it's been good up till this year.. had to replace the AC unit too beause the dealership scewed up the re-install of that too.
This year I add a new radiator to the mix.. another dealership screwup (different dealership) after they replaced it for $600 it split one week later.. they blamed me! but they did fix it at no cost..
other than that, new rear shocks,

for next year i'll need that new clutch.. first time too.. new front shocks and have to have the front end looked at.. even with new tires and an alignment it shakes at high speed.

this still is the best car i ever owned.. in the past, i would have done all the above work (with the exception of the engine rebuild) before 80K miles..

2002 WRX Wagon 5-spd

143,xxx. Recently replaced clutch but other than that most everything is all original. I average 25-26mpg on a 64mi round trip daily commute with 75% highway and 25% city driving to and from Seattle (Seattle traffic:(). Get around 27-28mpg on roadtrips over mountain passes.

Well I took a trip from Everett to Leavenworth, WA and back over the weekend and I'm at 368 miles on the tank and still have about an 1/8 left. Shooting for 400 miles on one tank! Getting gas tonight so I'll post the final MPG for the tank tomorrow. Do I hear 29-30 mpg?

I have a drop in K&N filter and that's it, everything is completely stock other than routine maintenance items (plugs, MAF cleaned, synthetic 5W-30 every 3,000-3,500mi). Planning to do a new uppipe and Cobb Accessport as my first mods.

Well I filled up with 389.4 miles on the trip meter and it took 13.272 gallons for a gas-sipping 29.339 mpg:). That included travelling over three Washington State mountain passes: Stevens (4,056 ft), Blewett(4,102 ft) and Snoqualmie (3,022 ft). I'll be gunning for 30+ mpg when I do a flatland road trip.

Nice man. How long have you had it? I'm hoping to hit 200,000 before doing a motor swap. At 145,000 now and still gets 27 mpg average and 29+ on road trips:)
