7 year/100k mile warranty got approved and is in the works.

SOA said it may take some time to get me the paperwork and all.

I don't want them "forgetting" about it... any input on how long it took you to get that set up?

    ^ good deal

I got something in the mail confirming in about a week

I'm very glad that they are continuing taking a few extra steps in making this unpleasant experience more tolerable

    Yeah, definitely.

While altogether it's a pretty ****ty situation and I'm pretty unhappy it happened, they seem to be making every effort to make it right and make the whole process as painless as possible. I definitely don't feel like anyone is just pullin' my chain (not yet, at least!)...

But then again, I was also prepared for this by all the information on the forum. I wonder what it would have been like had I had no idea this was a wide spread problem?

I've wondered this too, what if this happened even ten years ago when folks weren't as networked as they are now, or even worse 20 years ago??????

This wouldn't have happened 20 years ago... don't you know, "they don't make 'em like the used to!"

Well, "mad props" to Freehold Dodge/Subaru... just picked up my car -- all done. Basically took them 2 days (Wed-Fri).

    New long block and turbo.

So... not that I don't trust them, but any way I can check if they actually replaced stuff??? Aside from what it says on the service receipt that is.

Looking under the heat shield, the turbo looks fairly shiny and clean. Anything else I can check? Gotta figure the turbo was the thing they could have lied about, since the spun bearing required the long block.

Before I started it up, the engine had a "new" smell to it, which I smelled a bit during driving... and it felt different for a few miles then behaved normally.

Gotta break in again though, this part stinks!!

Now it's just a matter of keeping on top of SOA to make sure I get the Gold Plus extended warranty.

Thanks for all the tips on dealing with this, I really appreciate it!

the engine and turbo have serial numbers on them- short of knowing what the previous #'s were and comparing them- not really

it really makes the dealers job a lot easier (and less things to go wrong) when they use a long block from the factory

I guess I'm just paranoid... I read so many horror stories about dealership service. This dealership really gave me no reason to think they wouldn't do a good job...

I am relieved though that everything was taken care of so quickly.

Glad to hear you're back on the road again. That was super fast. Man it is hard to keep it under 4000 rpm.

Hey, if you don't mind, how did you work this? I tried calling the SOA 800 #, but couldn't get through, so I sent them an email through the website basically saying I would like the gold warranty for my trouble. I got an email response, polite but just said they cannot approve anything at this time until they talk to the dealer who did the work.

I called that 800 number, i think I pressed 4, then 4 to speak to representative. Then just waited a few minutes for someone to pick up. Just called a few times for an update, and kept reminding them about it. He said the same thing to me that you got in your email, then called me back the next day saying it was approved. Just waiting on the paperwork. Going to call Monday to remind them again.
