I just checked, it's the 08/08 build. Tow truck is coming now to take it to the dealer

I got an 810 as well. Dealer called, they said they didn't have any more replacement engines, so they are pulling one off the production line. So, break in period again?

wow i cant believe there is still no word from Subaru about this yet.

I don't think there ever will be a "word" from Subaru to be honest

thus far they've given everyone pretty good service (and a few perks) who have experienced a failure, beyond that I just don't see them coming out and saying what caused the failure and what they did to correct

I'd love for them to do that, but not expecting it

this is weird cause i read that the 09's have the same problems as the 08's

but my buddy has an 08 Sti and his car is fine, we even went autocrossing on a decently hot day(unless im just dumb and this is only with the WRX's and not STI's)

this is a 09 WRX problem

the 08 STi have had some issues w/ piston ring lands- totally different issue

this is a bearing/crank issue that appears to have been resolved w/ the newer builds

sorry to hear that- like I said not sure if any are going to make it

be sure to call SOA and get a incident # from them- also insure you get a long block and new turbo- I'd make them throw in the gold extended warranty too

Kinda funny, I'm watching the Koni Challenge race on Speed TV and a WRX is in 4th place. Race is sponsored by Subaru and they're showing the WRX commercial every chance they get racing around doing 4 wheel slides etc.

Well guys i test drove a WRX hatch this weekend that had a build date of Feb. 09.

Do you guys think its going to be ok. I think im going to bite the bullet on it today.
