Meh, think that's all the fancy auto clutch paddle shift malarky. Wouldn't be buying that gizmo anyhow. 5MT does the job.

Bah but I love Scoobys. Evos just leave me cold. Anyways, I'll not degenerate this thread into a rant.

Best of luck to the folks out there with failed engines. Let's hope that the rest of us will see 6 digit milages on the 08+ WRX & STi with only one block. Time will tell.

i have an 08 with 50,000 on it.
I'm pretty convinced its impossible to blow it up. haha.
have towed 1800lbs over vail pass.
my car is always loaded. abused? maybe... used? yes.
mountain driving and denver driving. dirt roads 35% of the time.
No problems from subaru drivetrain. I love it. more beef cake than BMWs, but for different purposes as well.
AWD for light duty wheelin/campin... and of course SNOW!
Will plow through a foot of snow easy. but don't get stuck.

EXCEPT: front and rear bumpers fall off, all the plastic wheel wells fall off creating issues. too many computer controlled functions such as throttle & the "norm" electronics for these days. unnecessary...

The 08 WRX is one running machine.
I hate cars, I want a Cummins... But that's what work is for... Burnin DESIEL!

So yeah the body sucks. The lights gather moisture. I'm pretty sure GM sponsored subaru for plastic.

    mods:
rear muffler delete. intake. nothin good.
hitch, rack, lights. stereo. (MY STEREO did go out at 40k at -15f)
And I have crashed it several times. once on ice, and also through a barbed wire fence in the middle of wyoming (recent **** )
    2008 BLUE WRX 5 door.
FOR SALE 2008 WRX BLUE AWESOME never raced, highway miles

Still waiting to see what the "Subaru Rep" says about my warranty.
    But you don't have a 2009.

...and before you could get it tuned? What does that mean? You put a different turbo on it?

    if you had a 07/08 2008 (2009 MY) build date, you'd probably be OK- w/ a 2008 it's anybody's guess

My 09 (Aug build) is still going strong. Up over 40k now, I have yet to have any issues.

My 09 (08/08 build) has just about 32,000 havent had one issue with it yet...except my ipod connector just stopped working?

Whats the highest mileage on an 08/08 build that has had the failure?

iirc there was a couple in the 30k range- anything past 20k has been pretty rare

My 09 WRX build date 10/08 has just started making horrendous noise, sounds like a bearing of some kind. After youtubing the issue it sounds like rod knock.

Car has 60,000 kilometres, stage 2. Just had a new oil change and oil change and is serviced flawlessly. The car is driven but not abused.

I am incredibly dissapointed that a modern car can have so many issues..

I have had a new clutch, multiple resprays and now this!
Not too mention the boost tube issues!

it was just reported and evidently the guy has a downpipe/exhaust and tune- hopefully he'll post up on what they are going to do (or not do)

another relative high mile one was denied some time ago by Subaru of Canada for having some mods

I'm glad mine went relatively early- didn't like the "cloud" following me around- on the other hand a new long block/turbo at 50k wouldn't be too bad either
