Yes, getting water in your engine bay is a bad thing and lots of stuff will break.

Most of the water is going to get on your intercooler, and maybe some on your intake manifold. You'd have to hold a hose pipe to a hot head/block to cause damage, which is way down under because of subarus horizontal engine layout. I dont think is going to be a problem
