Dude, you're fine!
You saved mucho dinero. $7K..that's like $140 a month for a five year loan. Now I feel bad about my 09 (no, not really). Everyone is right, you got a loaded car that's missing a few parts from the 09 for a lot less. Maybe you really wanted that moonroof? )~ Wow...spend like 3K on your car, smoke an 09, then feel content that you saved 4K. Congrats and there's no crying baseball! |

08 wrx
I bought an 08 WRX as well and really like it. I got a great deal on it too. I have never owned such a fun car. I am a new Subaru owner and know now why Subaru owners really like their cars so much. I think for the price you got an awsome car.Nothing to feel bad about. You can alway mod it later if you want.

Stock for stock....I can understand what you're saying. It stinks there was such a jump in power shortly after you got yours. That being said, with a few performance additions (like the others have said) you'll be good to go. Nothing to worry about...you still have a great car! Put a couple mods on and enjoy yourself!

ya know man I did the same thing. I have a 5door blue 08 rex. Bought it, hated it, then drove it to canada the week after I bought it, fell in love with it. I got hoem and saw the 09 was 265hp... "****", was the only thought in my head. But ya know I still love my car. No, its not the fastest thing on the road, but it is reliable, and our 08s will last longer because we are running less boost. Another thing, on the 2009, they put stiffer struts'/spring/whatev. I have been a bmw e36 owner, and jeep xj & yj owner. So They all were really rough on the road. Now, that I have the 08, I can still haul ass to the mountains several times a week, get 26-29mpg atleast. I can take corners fast, and it handles good, although the body roll is insane... but in the end it handles awesome for what it is. AWD, turns heads more than any of my jeeps did (and i had some sick jeeps)...
Its nice to have a smooth ride, and overall I love subaru. haha pEACE ![]()

agreed, you got a good price for a nice car. you mentioned on your initial post that you bought a car to fix up anyway. You can get up in power very easily.
And I believe your wife was right, no matter what there will always be something better out there, just search around here to see a few people posting about buyers regret about buying an '03 when they first heard that the STi was coming to the US. Is hard to keep up, just be happy with what you have.

Yea I wouldn't be too worried about it. Heck i just bought a 08 STI and all the hype and magazine reviews and such are even making me think i should have got an 09 wrx instead.
But I absolutely love my car and everyone is right in that there will always be something better. My roommate couldn't stand me having a faster car than him so now he's looking at getting a Noble after his internship this summer. |

This is how I see it. I've wanted a WRX since they came to America. I always thought they were the coolest cars. Being from Colorado, they're good in the weather too. Problem was, I couldn't afford one at first and when I could afford the car my insurance was too high for my rents to pay. (bless their souls...) I'm almost 21 now and I got my 08 over the summer. It was a freak deal. The car wasnt even on my list of potential new cars, but I got one anyway. I love the thing to death. I got the car of my dreams. I couldn't have afforded the 09 based on my insurance. So, ultimately, I have my WRX and I dont have to pay out my butt for a fun car. Just be grateful with what you have. You have the car you wanted.

I hear you. The 08 is a good car, but I always thought the suspension was a little soft and does not inspire confidence. The power also seems to tail off early, and I really wanted the sunroof (not available in 08). I felt a little disappointed with the handling, expecting a car with a WRX badge to be more spirited.
Then I saw the 09 at only $1k (Canadian) more and I was pissed. It seems as if they have made the small changes that makes the car into what the 08 should have been. The 08 was my first new car and I promised my wife that I'd have it for a long time - now one year one and I'm trying to work out how to get into an 09 without spending too much extra cash. She's even more pissed with me :s |

Are you driving both cars to their limits or just normally? My 08 is unstable if I push it, and it's definitely slower than the 09 even when running a Perrin AP map (not by a lot, but noticeable). I am sure the equivalent AP map in the 09 will make it significantly quicker. The 09 also feels more like a driver's car - still a little soft, but I feel more confident when driving it.
