well I sourced a set of 08 front struts (if your wondering how I did that so quick- you'd be correct that I sourced them prior to getting the car) to use a donors when Koni comes out w/ their insert/shock setup for the 08/09's
a comparo of the strut tops- similar, but not interchangeable
gen3 on the right
strut comparo- again similar (but different)
gen3 bottom
the stroke on the front strut is almost identical to the previous gen- 169mm (measured the 04 at 167), the piston diameter the same as well 22mm
you can also see from the pic that is uses the exact same bump stop as well- 60mm in length
I'm trying to get someone to get a measurement for the rear shock and for the rear bump stop as well
armed w/ these measurements I'll get measurements at full droop and then be able calculate bump and rebound travel
on a lighter note the better half is very impressed w/ the power of the new car- she's made several comments about having to be extra careful around town![]()

I was amazed at the top end speed in the 09; it took me by surprise when I first took it on the freeway.
The turbo spools up really quick too, makes those short trips much more enjoyable

Sway bar Notes
for the Gen3 Imprezas
2008 WRX front 20mm/rear 15mm
2008 STi front 21mm/ rear 18mm
2009 WRX front 21mm/ rear 16mm
the front bars between the STi and WRX are NOT interchangeable
the rear bars between the STi and WRX ARE interchangeable
I should note that the rear bars on the Gen3's are shorter than previous models so you can't directly compare them by diameter- a shorter bar will stiffer than a longer bar
I'll post up lengths soon and maybe JR can roughly calculate the differences made by the different lengths
