they make a "matching" 08/09 one- this is the one I got

45mm Electrical Boost Gauge - 08+ WRX/STi

what I don't know is how well it matches when everything is lit up

Mike, is the swaybar swap pretty much the same procedure as the old models? As in removal of subframe and all that(which is the way I did it on my 05) or can you thread it through? I had ordered the 24mm FSB from JSC and for endlinks they only had the spherical as an option, which I wasn't interested in. Looking in the WL catalog it seems the WL heavy duty endlinks I've been trying to sell and almost sold today fit the 08-09's as well according to the catalog. Any reason you went with a noisier spherical setup? Less flex?

BTW, my Kartboy shifter and bushings came today and I had a hell of a time getting the shifter to pop in. I had to put a lug nut on the knob threads and stuff a wrech underneath the bottom of the car where it mounts to prevent any flex and whack it with a hammer while my uncle used a pry bar to further leverage it........ Man I was sweatin', waiting to f up some interior piece while hammering away, but got it done unscathed. I need to stop hi-jacking your thread lol and create my own, but that's not my thing. Just needed to vent.

And while I'm still going, Oakos sent me an Enkei catalog that shows a new RPFI TypeII wheel. Weighs a touch more the RPF1 and costs a little more as well, at least here. Definately looks better IMO.

same install process, except you'll notice that the "subframe" is tiny (four bolts) so it's a lot quicker install

the links I made up are thus far dead quiet- I believe it's the quality of the rod end that makes a difference- my guess is that the outfits making spherical links are not using top end rod ends.
Clearly a cost issue- mine were over $100 to make a set!!!!

Yes- less deflection AND adjustable for length which allows all pre-load to be taken out

I got the STi short shifter as an option this go around- the previous two I had to install myself- nice not to have to do that

ohhhh- that is a nice looking wheel! at 16.2 your still shedding over 7 lbs/corner (the 08/09 rims are heavyyyyy)

Can you use the stock wiring from the stock boost gauge for the omori or other aftermarket gauge? I'd love to replace the stock one if I could use the existing setup.

If you run a mechanical boost gauge you can. An electric boost gauge would require you to run more wires.

bump stop update

just visited w/ RE Suspension- they actually tracked down the original manufacturer of the oe stops (my guess is there aren't too many) and were told they could produce several variants using the oe shape

he said to give him a week or so for them to get back, plan B is they have several stops they carry of the right length (varying durometer) and that they could drill out the stops to match the oe ones for ID

they "squeezed" the oe stops but if we go to plan B they'll re-squeeze it as all of their dyno plots are done in a bump cup- so it's an apple to apple comparo they'll have to test mine in a cup as well

bump cup

You can reuse the stock vacuum line for the pressure, but you're going to have to connect a few wires. The wires from the stock gauge will not work. There is a great writeup in the diy section of j-spectuning.com that tells you everything you need to connect.

she also agrees leather > vinyl

thanks to Alex at jpmcoachworks!

Here ya go Big...it's a perfect match although my gauge looks
a little orangie on the pic.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to do a DIY boost gauge install for the 08/09's

cubby light

the 09 (08 too I believe) has a little "cubby" light that comes on w/ the headlights- I thought it was strange that basically everything is backlit in red and then here was this little cubby light in blue.

turns out the STi uses a red light and it's a easy plug and play

part was under $10- here's the # (the light pictured is the one that came out- the one that went in looks identical except the plastic housing is brown- and the light is red )

I had a clearer pic w/ a flash, but it washed the red light out completely- fuzzy but you get the idea

That's exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!
