    BBS Mania

    the rims have rolled in

I got a screaming deal on a set of used BBS Mesh (forged)- these were the dealer option wheels for the bug eye WRX, not many chose the option as they were a $2500 option

these are used (obvious from the pic )- I'm going to have them refinished and repainted- probably a dark anthracite

this is the worst one of the bunch

new BBS RK's (cast) - these are hard to find as they've been discontinued- used to be a dealer option for the Saab 92X, I found a warehouse that had five of them and took them for a grand total of ........ drum roll please........$127/ rim- they even include BBS lug nuts, BBS valve stems and Saab center caps

    specs

    BBS mesh 17x7 et55 weight 15.2 lbs
    BBS RK's 17x7 et48 weight 17.8 lbs

    I weighed a oe rim at 23.2 lbs, the mesh's are a even 8 lb reduction/corner; the RK's 5.4 lbs/corner

the Mesh's will be mounted w/ R compounds, the RK's will be mounted w/ the oe Dunlops for "summer"/wet events.

very satisfying saving $ for sure, some of it's looking in the right places, some of it's patience, some of it's knowing the right person and often it's dumb luck

Big Sky, Car is looking great, can't wait to see the new rims installed. I am in the predicament of deciding between '09 WRX and '05 STi, I was leaning towards the STi, but you are making it really hard to.

that is a tough choice, either way I think you'll be happy.

my first WRX was a sedan and it was very nice, but after owning a wagon (04) I don't see myself ever going back to a sedan- wagon/hatch is a like a cake and eat it thing

Thanks for measuring that. I have always wondered but never had them on a scale w/o the tire. These are gorgeous rims, but you have to love them to clean them. PITA!

Congrats on the new car! I wish I could afford to upgrade.

Maybe its just me being OCD, but I think i would like it a bit better if the WRX was inline with the logo in the middle. Besides that though, love the way the car is looking!!
