I am looking into getting an 09 WRX (when they arrive) and am wanting to know what comes standard, or optional, as an alarm system. My insurance company gives a discount for a security system.

I have been looking over the 08 literature and cannot find where any security system is mentioned. Hopefully I didn't miss seeing something that is right in front of me.

Mine came with the security of a 1911 w/13 cap + spare clip...

Not much help.
I am looking for something a bit more passive that will watch out for the car while I am not there and get me an insurance discount.

my 08 didn't come with anything and it's got everything except the nav. Not quite sure if anything changed with 09. Might just have to go buy an aftermarket set up

Are you meaning more than the factory security system? Which on mine consists of:
A flashing security light on the dash. The key fob has a panic button. If I lock with the fob then open with the key it goes crazy honking and flashing. My keys are chipped, engine will disable if the correct chip isn't present when the ignition is engaged.

Maybe that will satisfy the insurance company enough to give me the discount.

You can get an optional shock sensor for the 08s installed at the dealership
