A valid point none-the-less. I had that same metal on metal sound. It wasn't pretty. I'm pretty sure my giant Brembo calipers clamping down no steel rotors is what was stopping my car for awhile

If your pedal is soft then your fluid is boiling. If you still had good pedal feel and your car just doesn't seem to stop well then it's the pads. A lot of people think they have really good pads but by the time they get to the tack they realize they aren't as good as they thought. If It's your fluid the best you can buy is Castrol Srf. There is no other fluid made that is better on the street or the track. As far as pads you'd just have to buy better pads or not push your car as hard.

My pedal was soft and my car just didn't seem to stop. I suppose that's why the mechanic said to replace both, along with stainless lines while we were at it. He used some fluid with the name of some color, like Super Blue Juice or something like that. I'm not planning on pushing this car that hard again; it just didn't seem up to the task. I'm glad I got to try it out on the track though, so I could see where the adhesion limit was and to see that I could take a corner fast without losing control. I figure I'll head to the track once per car from here on out in order to see how it handles.

Yeah, sounds like if you had no pedal then your fluid was boiling. Super blue is ok. A lot of people run it because it's cheap. Some people run it because it's blue. lol. Since you're not running it at the track anymore it's fine for the street. For your next car I'd suggest castrol Srf or at the least moutul 6000 I believe it is.

I made the mistake of buying a 2002 WRX without getting it checked by a reputable dealer, and am going to have to drop $1500 on it, between a radiator, clutch, and brakes.
