I think it was somewhere around $980, 110mph in a 55mph zone and no insurance card (had insurance, but forgot to grab the new card). The insurance part was dropped once I showed I had insurance and paid a lawyer $500 and got the speeding ticket dismissed outright, no fines or points. Luckily the officer was in a good mood and didn't take me in that night. I think part of it was I was in eastern washington on a deserted highway at 2am, he was the first car I saw in the past 40 minutes. After that experience I've lessened the lead foot and haven't had a ticket since. *knock on wood*

I've gotten a few tickets, but the best story is the one that got away. Driving through a residential area (45 speed limit) behind an "eco-green" honda element. Doing limit of course (less, actually) when radar detector goes off.
Cop goes by, opposite direction, im not sweating of course. A little later the road opens up(double dashed line) and i think " well im not sitting behind this jerk all the way), so i drop to 3rd, pass, by the time i get back over and look at the speedo, im doing 90, in a 45, not smart. Off the gas to coast down, when detector goes off again, so i slam the brakes, get down to 45. But dont see a cop. I keep going. not a minute later, detector goes off. I know there wouldnt be that many cops around, and i know its not a false alarm. So I'm looking around, check behind me, and what do i see? A few cars back(me, some truck, element) and behind the element is the 5-0 swerving into the oncoming lane. Well i think, im busted, no one else was speeding that i saw. Sure enough, next intersection, lights come on. I pull over, truck behind me pulls over. So i sit there, maybe 10-15secs(feels like a long time when your sure your about to get a huge ticket) Nothing. The sirens were off, i couldnt even see the cop anymore, so pull off, truck comes along. As I drive away I see the cop has that element pulled over. Now theres NO WAY this thing was speeding, in less a cop caught MY speed, and thought it was them... or the car was stolen... But anyway, sure felt like I got away with one there! ![]() |

$540 - negligent 2nd degree. clocked at 82 in a 60, and weaving through traffic.
kinda lame, really. it was the freeway, afterall. funny thing is, after adding tons of power mods to make my car faster, i find myself driving more conservative. go figure. ![]()

+1, isnt it funny how you spend so much money on making your car go faster, but the second you get pulled over or have a near crash, you will find yourself driving slow. But just like i told my GF, its not that i buy these performance products so i can drive fast and street race, I just want my car to be fast. Alot of people jst dont get it either.

I have been lucky so far. Been pulled over for sound system once, was being stupid to, i had seen the cop and didnt turn in down. Lucky i played dum like i allways do and got a warning. Fast foward 3 years. 3 weeks after trading my si in for the wrx. I get um not pulled over since i was stoped all ready. But i was having a little fun on a diry road off post here. Mp pulls on me while im stoped. Didnt know I was trespassing(off post on goverment property) so i figure im getting a trespassing ticket, no such luck. I get handed a reckless driving ticket for playing on a dirt road that is really never used, and to top it off he never seen me do anything. But was only like 75 bucks and it never hit my command and MP tickets dont effect my DL or insurance.
Then 79 in a 60 about a year ago was like 240ish. But been really lucky I have done stuff that i was cought i would go right to jail.

I once got a "Careless and Imprudent" driving ticket back in 1997.
It was late, I had a curfew was really hurrying home and didn't realize a cop was tailing me. I was speeding on side-street (50 in a 35), ran a redlight (2am no-one around), squeeled my tires rounding the highway on-ramp, and "accelerated too quickly" down the on-ramp. And the cop said I was speeding on the highway(80 in a 60), when he finally decided to pull me over. I got it 'fixed' but had to pay about $500 in court costs and fines. Then I had to attend a defensive driving weekend getaway (two 8 hr sessions). |
