    Static shock from doors

My WRX shocks me every time I close the door. Really starting to get on my nerves. Has anyone figured out a way to make the WRX not shock you on the way out? I figure the car is mad at me for getting out of it...

Yeah I've tried that. Like on the rubber weatherstripping between the metal of the door and the window? It shocks me through that too!

Thats so funny someone actually brought that up. It has been shocking me for over a year.... i just close the door with my window, just don't slam it hard, and everything should be fine (new windows are expensive)

I had the same exact problem for the first couple months I had my car. Either I've gotten used to it, or it has stopped, because I haven't noticed it in quite a while

Fingerprints on the window? I suppose if you do it with your elbow, or maybe push on the side of the window.

I don't know, I'm just surprised because I've never noticed it in other cars, but with the WRX it is every time I get out. I feel like Peter Gibbons from Office Space, in that scene where he stares at the door handle of the office knowing it will shock him when he reaches out to touch it.

Discharge the shock with a knukle or back of the hand rather than a fingertip. It hurts less.

Yeah I thought that too, but did you see the video? Must have had just the right AFR and a good shock. Gas pump handles are rubberized for a reason, that must have been a helluva shock.

Exactly. Just because they are frameless doesn't mean you can close it by the glass.

I actually ended a several year friendship because he was a repeat close by the glass AND slammer offender, double disrespect. After repeated warnings, one day he got out of my car at a gas station, slammed the door and left FIVE greazy finger smears across the window. I curtly informed him that if he did it again he was banned from the car, he replied with something *****y and demeaning to the wagon, I left his sorry ass at the gas station and never talked to him again.

It seems to happen in the winter time when the air gets colder and dryier and it helps the conductivity, when the summer rolls around it stops and then returns for the winter.

So glad you put him in his place! I've had 'the talk' with 'friends' like that before too. Luckily most of them shaped up pretty quickly!

    Gotta have standards!
