Never named a car before, but my wife and I are already calling this one her "sister wife."

English doesn't use genders for brand names and such, but in general Japanese cars are not feminine, they're neutral (analogous to "it" in English I suppose). This is entirely appropriate, because they are in general unremarkable. Alfa, Lancia, et al., feminine, whereas "mama" FIAT neutral despite owning the others; likewise Ford neutral whereas Chevrolet feminine (probably because of the French background to the name itself). Lola is feminine, Lexus neutral (the Japan thing at play). Porsche feminine, Opel neutral and so on.

My first Toyota was "The Antichrist."

Lots of history with cars and motorcycles for me. I've never called one "her", "she", "girl" or any name. I have beat some of them like a cheap *****, though.

Honestly, I'm not a misogynist, I just always thought that phrase was funny.

Edit: Sorry, I did not know that word was forbidden

I call mine "the wrx" or "the subbie" and refer to mine as an it. I never got into calling my car a girl or naming it.

In the past I've only really applied mocking nicknames to certain cars I owned ("The Vette" to my '81 Chevy Chevette, "The Heap" to an older Jeep CJ I had), but I once referred to my WRX as "Rex" and ever since my seven year old calls the car Rex any time he refers to it. As a result ... my car is Rex.

Haha I've never referred to my car as a "Scooby"

I have, however, dubbed it a Scoobasaurus WReX.

Serious sh*t, my GF and I are having a hard time figuring out whether Subie is a dude or chick, boy or girl as she says. So we just call it Subie.

My first car is named Olivia, because she is olive green =)
