$35K to start? What have the recent STi's sold for? I am looking at the Evo X as well.

No sale yet ... I knew that. Not ready to buy for 2 - 3 years.

I was reading there will be two Evos; The $30-ish GSR and the $35+ MR.

What about Subaru paint? Any improvement?

I really do like the new STi. Should be at least as moddable, with the ability to stuff more stuff in the back.

There is a good possibility I may get a change in job title with greater pay (and responsibility) within the next several months. So $35K might be much more reasonable by then.

I'm fine with it, as well. Realistically though, I can't see myself shelling out over 35 large for a car anytime soon. for ten grand less, I can get a used Vag STI. Slap on my current car's downpipe, trade out AP's for the STI version, and I'd be a happy camper. Still looking for that jar of quarters that I hid in my basement...

I believe you gave that to TR to keep the "Evidence for Ray's wife folder" under wraps.

I'm in the same boat. Within the year or two I plan on getting a used '06 STI or maybe even an '07 STI LTD if I can find one. I'm just too damn picky and I know it will take forever to find one that looks like it's been babied as much as my WRX. $35k plus tax/title/tags is a lot of money just for a car, especially if it's your daily driver.

No offense to hatchback owners, as I <3 all Imprezas, but I could never justify spending $35k plus tax/title/tags on a hatchback. I couldn't justify spending that on the current STI sedan (so I got the WRX), it's generally just a beefed up economy car. However, I do regret just not ponying up the extra cash for a new or slightly used '06/07 STI instead of the WRX had I known about the WRX's 5-speed's quirks and power threshold.

Most stock STi's I have seen 04-07 MY had stickers at $32-$34k starting.

Is the magical $1k the branch that broke the camels back? Even for an all around better package than the 04-07 STi?

$1k seriously people? I spend more than that in coffee a year

Oh and I have a feeling there is gonna be a hefty hefty markup on the 1st model year of 1 series BMW's. Good luck getting one for under $35k.
