Question Looking For My First Upgrade... What to do?

Hey guys, I have a bone stock black 07 WRX and I want to make it my own with some upgrades, but I can't decide what to get. I have looked at upgrades in sound, blow off valves, intercoolers, gauges, exhaust, and both exterior and interior mods. I don't know what is smart for me right now because I need it to stay street legal, and I don't know what I need for other things to be necessary. Also if I decide then I don't know which companies to buy from if I want the best stuff or cheap stuff. Just let me know about any ideas.

i would get an accessport first its a very quick and easy way to add 25hp to ur car get a downpipe after that and go stage 2 with the accessport and add 55hp to ur car!

the stock sound isnt very good a speaker overhaul (2 front 6.5" 2 rear 6.5") is about 500 installed if u go with JL Audio parts they make very high quality speakers!

HP: StageI (EM) & StageII (TBE+EM) would be your best first mods. You do not need to replace the UP in the car, as it's already catless.

Handling: tires/springs/sways can all help improve the handling

Sound: speakers and a head unit would be your best first mods

So is there a place i can hear the sound of the cobb catback exhaust with stage 2? And is that a good exhaust system for the price or should i look for other systems?

    Exhaust Video/Sound Clips

If you want to go stage 2 you'll need a down pipe, not just the catback...make sure to check the cobb stage 2 video's on putfile.com, they're from yours truly

careful.. what do you mean street legal? ie, when you muck with the exhaust, it isn't legal any more in some states (CBE is fine, TBE causes the issue as you are changing CAT). I have also read in lots of places that going to a high-flow or catless DP will cause some CEL issues (though there seems to be some fixes for that).

By law you really cant replace any of the cats until they malfunction. Md has some strange exhaust laws also about not having anything other then stock. They arent usually enforced.

Cobb's base maps have passed emissions on stage 2 cars in MD pretty easily.

What part of MD are you in?

    Cobb exaust sound

Also I listened to the sound clip of the cobb exhaust and it seems like some other exhausts sound a bit louder... maybe I don't know for sure cuz i don't want my car to be too loud. I am just looking for a really badass sound, you know nice and loud but not too anoying.

=) you mentioned blow off valves (bov)...yaa....there are two opinions when it comes to bov's....one is *THEY SUCK* and the other is * it makes a cool sound *

there are lots of problems that could occur when adding a bov to your car

^^^ is a good place to look. look especially under negatives because they seem to outweigh the 'cool noise' positive
