So, what's the skinny on the '06?

    Quick question from a noob:

I'd like to get a better idea as to what the actual improvements are on the '06. I know about the 2.5, but what does that really mean? (just no turbo lag now?) Is the tranny still made of glass? What are the actual improvements from the 05? Can someone list some pros and cons for me?

Hopefully soon, we will get an 06 driving WRX/STI/Wagon member and they can give us a nice write up of what it is all about. Until then there will be 600 more threads on it.

I got an '06 and i'm waiting for it to be delivered by the end of August/beginning Sept. and I have the brochures for both. It looks like the differences are like this (Canadian Spec):

    '06 WRX
    2.5 liter
4 piston front brakes @292 mm
    Corner spliters/spoilers like STi
    Anti-theft system & engine immobilizer
    215/45R17
    7-spoke 17x7 wheels
    230hp @ 5600,
    235 lb/ft torque @ 3600
    (@ crank ... dynos show a greater wheel hp/torque difference b/w 06s and 05s)
    Aluminum front control arms
curb weight: 3201 lbs (heavier than '05)
    2-tone cloth interior (black/light grey
    bolsters)
    Meets LEV2 emissions stds.
    2 cats (catless up-pipe)

    '05 WRX
    2.0
    2 piston fronts @290 mm
    205/55R16
    10-spoke 16x6.5
    227 hp @6000
    217 lbs/ft @4000
    curb weight: 3088 lbs
    dark grey cloth interior
    Meets LEV emission stds.
    3 cats

That's all I've caught... any other differences? and there will always be turbo lag cuz hey.. it has a turbo.. power just comes a little sooner.
