    accident ALREADY?!

well, my brand new wrx of 3 weeks got rear ended by my best friend yesterday. that sucks. luckily its only minor damage to my bumper, though he was borrowing his dads accord and smushed his bumper and hood a bit worse. I'm really quite impressed with the way my car took the hit... as i walked back to check it out, my heart hand't quite started beating again yet, i couldn't even find the damage at first. it looks like it was punched with brass knuckles in two spots near the license plate, and some paint scraped/ chipped off in another spot.... can't blame him for the accident, there were alot of crappy conditions... alot of us had to hit our brakes hard... unfortunately he was last in line...

anyway, my question, as i know i'm not the first to have to replace a bumper... how much does a new one cost? installed and all? either my friend or his insurance is gonna cover it, but i'd like to let him know how much to expect it to cost if i can.

also, it seems he may have bumped my tailpipe in the process, it doesn't look hit, but when i jiggle it back and forth the back edge of the muffler taps the rear swaybar, and a few rubber hangers look a bit contorted. how much clearance is normally in there, its only about 1/4 - 1/2 an inch now... i'm guessing the pipe may have bent? should it safely bend back to give enough clearance? not sure I'm ready for a turboback quite yet, I'm unfortunately still under just about all of my warranty...

who knows, maybe his insurance will pay to "replace my exhaust" i'll bend it back, and get an AP with the difference :-p

WOW, same thing happend to me in the 2nd week, except it was a soccer mom. They didnt replace my back bumper but they patched it and it cost $245 ( none of which i paid, soccer moms insurance took care of it)

Never get into an accident on the front drivers side, my repairs were $12,000 because the battery popped and the car had to be repainted because the acid spread all over the car. Man that sucked. Sorry for changing the subject, just bad memories.
