    I did the mod also and those pop tabs can me a pain.

    I did break a couple of the tabs, so I just put the tabs in the areas where I felt it was the
    best & strongest mouting area to compinsate for the missing tab.

    Your probably just as likely to get water in the filter with the elbow as without. when you drive in the rain the water is going to go right into your intake and get stuck in the elbow. Just hack the silencer off and call it good. At least then there is a constant supply of fresh air going into the wheel well, and it will be almost imposible for water to get in it.

    Yeah i just removed my silencer, have had plent of rain and no problems in 5000 miles. *Knock on wood*
