This is a discussion on Uppipe, Downpipe, Muffler INSTALL GUIDE! within the Engine Performance forums, part of the Tutorials & DIY category; Do you have an O2 sensor socket?...
Do you have an O2 sensor socket?
Yeah, I think that the sensor on the uppipe is the EGT, not an O2.
I'was able to wiggle my uppipe out the top on my wagon; on my sedan I had the turbo off, so it was easy to get out.
You're going to have to jack up the engine to make clearance, I'm guessing.

Ray is right, the O2 sensor is in the exhaust manifold, the sensor in the up pipe is an EGT sensor. I think that there's a panel in the wheel well that comes off that gives better access to the sensor
I've heard that you can get the up pipe out if you bend the EGT sensor up against the pipe, then rotate it(the pipe) counterclockwise and back. Supposedly, it will come out without jacking the engine, but most people say that jacking the engine up is the way to go.
The original poster of this thread covered it in Post #12.![]()

Click on that, then notice that each post by tubbytreats has a number in the top right corner. As you page down through this thread, you'll get to #12; that's where he talked about jacking up the car.![]()

alrighty....welll....tonight i got everything out and installed....got everything hooked back up....but when we went to start it...it sounded like complete crap! theres a leak somewhere but i didnt have time to look for it. one question is what do i put the headers too when tighting them and there was a hose sitting on my fire wall. idk if that has anything to do with it but any help is as always very very loved thanks![]()
On page 2 of this thread, there's a chart showing torque values. At least I think that's what you're asking. 28.9 ft-lbs for the header to head connection. 26 ft-lbs for other header connections. Make sure you're using decent gaskets.
