    2004 Mods?

Does anyone know if some of the older mods, like 3/16 and removing the intake silencer, will work on a 2004? I'm looking for someone who's actually tried it on their 2004, rather than someone who will say "yeah they should work, no problem".

I was able to remove the intake silencer without any cels on my 2004. You hear more noise from the turbo and the blow off valve (if it's quiet in your car).

ive taken out the silencer, installed a HKS BOV, did a blitz dual TT, JoeP MBC and have done the 3/16 mod. I put the 3/16 mod back to stock because the car didnt feel as smooth and i added a MBC. None of these set off the CEL.

    instructions

Here are two links I've come across...

    http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/sho...=&threadid=113

    http://www.scoobytuner.com/tuning/?tSfID1=12&tuningID=9

There's probably a set of instructions on clubwrx.net as well, but those two seem to be the most popular.

I just added a AEM short ram intake on my 2004 WRX. It works great ! The intake didn't set off the check engine light and the response is quicker. I say install an intake because it sounds ****in' great !!

I did the 3/16th mod and it 100% screwed up my FBC. Full throttle in 3rd, 4th, or 5th gear would result in boost wavering between 12-19psi. It would swing back and forth between those two extremes at WOT. After about 10 minutes of that, I put the stock restrictor back in. Putting stock one back in solved the problem, and I am positive it was not leaking or anything, as all connections were very secure, and it was the only piece that was changed.

Careful with the intakes. I put an AEM shortram on my car that was made for the '02-'03 models, and it threw 2 or 3 CELs that had to do with the MAF. According to AEM it's because the tubing that the sensor sits in is a different diameter between the '04s and the others.

That's about it, the check engine light flashing. If it happens, get it red at autozone for free. They'll plug an OBD-II scanner in, connect the service wires under the steering column, and they can tell you the code number and what it refers to.
