Probably like 40-45 psi.

To be blunt...nothing higher than stock without EMS.
Need more info as the second poster was implying..how do you intend on upping the boost.

There has been a lot of these threads lately....
To put it nicely please control your boost with engine management. Your engine will be happier, more efficient, more reliable and just all around better. We are very fortunate as wrx owners with the amount em solutions that are out there

Exhaust components have nothing to do how much boost you can run.
Engine internals, turbo, engine management, fuel system all determine what kinda boost you can run.
This may be true if say, you run no exhaust at all and go straight to a dump tube. But lets say you try to run a GT30 or 35 setup through a 1" diameter exhaust system. Betcha won't be able to achieve max boost. Or should I say maximum performance. You probably could get max boost, but it won't do you any good, so perhaps you are correct. Then again "how much you can run"....I'd say your exhaust size does figure into how much you can run. It it can't exit, all the boost in the world won't do any good.

??? Are you serious? You need good exhaust flow through the turbo to get best performance out of the turbo. So if you have 2 inch piping, there is a lot of constriction. Especially with any other hindrances such as cats, resonators, or mufflers. So small diameter exhaust tubing does affect how much throughput your turbo puts out. That is why people like large diameter, straight back, catless piping. It is like comparing exhaling breath through a straw and an empty paper towel roll.
