Any mods that will make a noticeable difference in power will potentially affect your warranty.

I would look at suspension in the mean time.

Everything affects warranty. Even suspension components.

You replace a spring and the strut prematurely fails, then the dealer will deny your warranty claim.

Well since this is your first forum, learn to spell correctly so it would be easier to read your posts. And just like brfatal said, suspension is the way to go for now. I also think that if you get the STP exhaust and have it installed at the dealer, it wouldn't effect your warranty since they do offer it in the dealer when you buy a new car but I'm not 100% sure.

If you're going to criticize our new member's spelling, at least spell things properly yourself. In addition your grammar is crap.

I'm not 100% sure on this though.

Read up on the M&M act. I've had several warranty issues fixed by the dealership even though I've put about 8,000 dollars into my car. Look at my modifications list. There hasn't been anything that has gone untouched... and the dealership still is willing to assist me with warranty claims.

One thing that many people fail to realize. The dealership gets PAID by Subaru of America (SOA) to fix warranty claims. They would LOVE to work on your car. If they're minor things, then the dealership doesn't have to get approval from SOA. If there are major things involved (over 1000 in work usually... or if severe abuse is suspected) then the dealership has to get approval from SOA. I had an ECU issue that they resolved. They allowed me to flash from my VF39 Protune map to the stock map, fixed my issue, then I flashed back, and everything went perfect with 0 charge from the dealership. I had a loose control arm, and even though I have all of the suspension mods below they still worked on my car for 0 cost.

Don't think that any mods "VOIDS" your warranty. It doesn't. If you have a warranty claim, the dealership has to prove that the issue is directly affected by the modifications you have done to the vehicle. If they can't do that, then they're required to work on the car under warranty. Most of the time the dealership would rather just get SOA to pay them for the repairs on your vehicle.

    Just for your info...

The M&M Act was written more inline to protect people who didn't get their oil changes at dealerships and who use 3rd party parts for maintenance or repair, not people who install performance parts to take the car beyond for what it originally design. As a whole they cannot void the warranty. They will replace your window motors if they go bad when you have exhaust, but if your motor, transmission, differentials, etc go bad then they can (and likely will) deny the claim by either blaming the mods or claim abuse (which is their almighty trump card) if you mod it enough.

His spelling wasn't that bad, I've seen a lot worse around. You don't need to be completely anal about it, I can see if the OP was trying to describe a problem in detail, but if its legible then don't worry about it...

Absolutely. Motor, transmission, diffs won't be affected by someone that daily drives a properly tuned stage 2 and doesn't abuse the car. They'd pull the abuse car on an unmodified car that had transmission, motor or diff failure as it is.

The 2008 wrx didn't have any major issues or failures, and if lightly modified properly, I wouldn't be scared in the least bit of doing some basic modifications.

No just a heads up so he wouldn't get flamed later on. I've been to a lot of forums and have seen my share of grammar Nazis! Lol
