    Is it possible for an uppipe to explode and send debris into the turbo and destroying it? Should i gut my stock uppipe or buy a new one?

    Yes your stock catalyst can send chunks into your turbo. Personally, I think I'd buy a new one rather than gut it, but thats just my preference. Tons of member have gutted them with much success. Know that you will need a "CEL fix" once the cat is gone. A form of EM will take care of this.

    my friend had a helix up pipe and the fitment wasnt to great when we bolted it up to the turbo.

    I just noticed you're from PA, me too.

    I just failed the visual part of my emission inspection due to my aftermarket downpipe, but not because of my gutted stock uppipe. The mechanic said as long as it looks like its there (even though the EGT sensor has a bolt replacing it), then it'll pass.

    Just something to consider because I know that changing out the uppipe to pass emissions is not something I would ever want to do.
