the one locally is a different brand. not JoeP.

    thank you.
Joe P was $48 and arrived in two days. If you can't wait two days, you've got issues with patience.

Bump! This is a good tutorial!

What should I do with the Solenoid hose? Should I plug it? Or should I just let it hang...

Aside from having different internals (maybe), a JoeP would serve basically the same purpose as a TXS HPBC, right? Just a lot cheaper, and no switch on the inside of your car?

If you have stock fuel I'd swap it out, it's probably getting stale N **** in their. I'd at least throw some stay-bil in the tank.

Just for clarification. This tutorial was designed around an 02 WRX. The ECUs post 02 (03-06) made significant changes in engine management and thus, do not adapt well to a boost controller. If you must use a boost controller on an non-02 WRX, please consider some form of enginer managment to support it. Otherwise, your air to fuel ratios will be skewed towards the lean side, and this will eventually result in some scorched rings (note...this is BAD).

The last fella didn't get my joke. I forgot all about this thread. So, then what you're saying is it's okay to run 21 psi on a stock 02 WRX with an MBC right? (Jesus I hope everyone realizes that's a joke. But my last one didn't go over so well, so I thought I'd spell it out in the parenthasis'ss's)

BTW, Scott, everytime I go on a road trip I think 100's of 1000's of times about your Custom User Title. Because I, as well, hate left hand lane squatters.

I've often wished for some mortar rounds or something to arc up and over traffic and blow the arseshole up who is using cruise control set at 60-65 MPH and squats in the left lane next to a long line of truckers in the right lane. Smug, ignorant, and self-important waste of life...thats what those type of drivers are. I really, really, mean that. Can you tell I drive too much?

I also hate, even more, those same losers that do this and then, when you go by, decide that you look like an excellent radar shield and surgically graft themselves to your bumper. Can you say "brake check"....here...let me demonstrate the power of aftermarket brakes. I actually had someone go off the road doing this. Did I care...no...not one bit. One less moron to contend with on the road. Yes...I have it bad...road rage is a curse, and the only cure is....hmmm...what is the cure? I know....have my wife and kids in the car...then I'm mister calm and sedate.

The reason for not going past 17 PSI i take is fuel reasons, that the stock fuel system would need upgrading for anything past that?

There's no point in exceeding that pressure due to thermodynamic efficiency. You'd be generating heat counter-productively. In any case I'd not recommend a boost controller to begin with.
