    Cool Rocketman1's Next WRX project

I put this in Engine Performance due to consultation with a MOD...

Everyone seemed to like my last major WRX Project thread, so I am going to do another...and since there is no SWAP forum, I will put it here.

I just picked up an 02 WRX that looks like it has been thru the proverbial wringer....

Got it on EBAY, and the pictures did not do the damage justice...I left Thurs nite at 9 PM, drove straight to ILL, picked up car, and drove straight back.....32 hr round trip. Car is now in the garage, with not much done. Car took most damage to the rear, but almost EVERY body panel is shot (hood scoop, and MAYBE driver door ok)...most of interior is OK....but the important part is that the car only has 20K on it....drove it on and off trailer (on 3 wheels)...

This one is WAY TOO BAD to fix like the last one I did....so SWAP time. I plan on tearing this apart, and swapping drivetrain into one of my other cars (probably my RS...although I am being told it should go into the 94 L beater)....

My plan is to swap drivetrain, and possibly the DASH too....that I havent decided. To keep it cheap, I will keep motor pretty much stock during the initial install. Proabably jsut UP/DP, not much else at first.

Pictures to follow, and as with the last project, I will try to document it all, especially the tough part: WIRING.

I am currently pretty busy with work and coaching, so it may be slow going until after February, but I will keep all posted.

    J

Guy driving musta had a helluva grip on the wheel when he slid it off the road, into a tree.

the 'good' side....luckily motor is untouched.....car has had ZERO mods to it...other than the obvious 'slide off road into tree' mod, that is ever so popular with kids these days.

its amazing how much fun it is to beat on a car with a sledge hammer

I started "removing" random parts to gain access to what I want. There is a pile of twisted parts in my driveway already. Hope to have fun over Xmas and pull some more parts. Its gonna be slow going until March, when Wrestling is over.

    little work done

I haven't had much time over break, but I did manage to do a few things. I spent most of yesterday helping a friend work on a Ver 4 STi swap into his L Wagon. Today, I worked on my car. Started tearing pieces off to get to the main wiring harness. Managed to get most of the rear harness out (up to front seats inside. HYad a bit of trouble getting the fuel controller out. Look back a few pictures, and if you know where it it supposed to be, guess about where it WAS. (hint: about the middle of where the tree hit)

Thank God for airtools. Few minutes with a body saw made a nice little window for me to get to the fuel controller. Been ID'ing the plugs as I take them off. Should make it a LITTLE easier. Wont have much more time till the weekend. Hope to get a few more things unplugged, and maybe the rest of the body harness out. Need to get a few more jackstands under it before I crawl below.

    More Later.
