boost controller

I was wondering if getting a boost controller on a basilly bone stock wrx would show any improvment in preformance.

I was talking to my friend who has a 300zx he was telling me that when he got his car the boost controller made a big difference, but cars like rx7's need more mods before the boost controller can be put in.

It will make a difference, but you'll need a boost gauge to make sure you're not overboosting. You may encounter things such as boost creep though. You'll also want to replace your uppipe as the higher boost = higher EGT and can increase the chances of melting your pre-turbo cat into the turbo.

I have a autometer boost gauge in there already. how much of a performance difference do you think i should see?

Like crazy cam said, upping the boost before replacing the CATs right in front and behind the turbo (Uppipe and Downpipe) can cause problems because you could melt them and cause alot of damage.

Boost controller will make you see some power improvements.

Most people do both uppipe and downpipie at the same time, and its a fun thing to do! I reccommend doing both, and ditch the manual boost controller. Get something better than $40 worth of plumbing supplies controlling your car's boost.

you guys are freakin mean.. Haha.. I say stay away from boost controller if you're gunna do a ecu reflash, the cobb stage 2 sets your turbo at higher boost in specific gears doesn't it?? get an electronic boost controller if you're gunna get one, its easier to control and adjust..not to mention, safer..

do you have an 02-03? With just a boost controller set to 16 psi i got egt's no higher than 780 and a/f no higher than 10.3-10.4 You really should ditch at least the uppipe. Just get whatever uppipe you want.
