Sunoco has race gas

Just walked past the Sunoco down the street from my house. They just started to sell 100 octane race gas from the pump!!
It's 4.39 a gallon, but they are the first I've seen selling it (other than the guy at the track). How would the WRX run if I were to splerge and get it one of these days?? Any negative aspects??

I think the sunoco around here advertises 104octane. It's still unleaded. 114octane gas is most likely the leaded kind.

youre better off using toulene than the leaded stuff.

you can get it at your local paint store. instructions for mixing are listed here.

For the 100 octane in NJ, it costs me $3.99 a gallon which isn't too far off what you are paying.

I def. notice a difference between running 100 octane and 94 octane.

Have you tried this yourself? How much would be put in our WRX if I wanted to run a constant 100 octane. I know they said about 30% for a high 90's octane mixed with 92 octane. I usually run on 93/94 octane.

thats the Sunoco CAM2 100 octane unleaded gas..it is awesome stuff. I used to be able to buy it at the pump where I live but the dealer went out of business

I would put in 3 or 4 gallons with every tank of 93 octane when I had my TTZ and it enabled me to up the boost 2psi ( from 460rwhp to 478rwhp ) without detonation even in the middle of S. Fl. summer heat.

on a wrx wouldnt you need to be running the 100+octane for several tanks before the ecu would recognize that it can advance timing?

Check out this link. The guy owns a turbo legacy but your results will be similar to his. Check out the links that he posts as well for a detailed description of how to use the stuff:

I used Xylene a couple of times on my turbo Integra (a lot like toluene, but 1 or 2 points higher octane, a little tougher to find but glass shops sometimes have it for use as a very serious glass cleaner... I think paint shops in california were phasing it out but it seems to show up every once in awhile still).

The difference was noticeable, and the Integra didn't even have a self-learning ECU. It did however have a J&S Safeguard that pulled timing in response to detonation. Running a gallon of Xylene in a tank (12g) of gas made the little red blinky detonation indicator go dark and made the car way more responsive without that timing pulled out.
